Welcome Back to YAPS

After a year and 8 months, the gates at YAPS are now open. YAPS is offering a hybrid schedule through the end of 2021. The gates will be open to the public for adoption meetings from Noon to 4:00pm on Wednesdays through Saturdays. If you prefer to make an appointment to meet our available pets, you can schedule a meeting from 11am to Noon on Wednesdays through Saturdays.

There has been a noticeable change in our adoptions numbers since the pandemic started. In March of 2020 we initially had great success adopting out nearly all the pets we had on site. There was a period of time during 2020 that there were not as many pets available for adoption because so many had been adopted during the height of the pandemic.

By the end of 2020, adoptions were significantly lower due to YAPS being open by appointment only and having less pets available. In 2021, we are seeing the opposite. Adoptions are down and many people are needing to surrender pets. The local shelters and local rescues are once again full.

The Team at YAPS is happy the gates are open again. The first week the gates opened back up, there were more adoptions than in the preceding weeks. We are optimistic that this means more cats and dogs will get adopted before the end of this year.

We have several pets that have been onsite for all or most of 2021. We are experiencing an increase in the “length-of-stay” for large breed dogs and all ages of felines. Being open to the public will hopefully make it possible for some of the longtime residents of YAPS to find Forever Homes.

Appointments are required for pet surrenders and to pick up a Yucaipa spay/neuter voucher. YAPS is offering DA2PPV and Bordatella vaccines for dogs, and FVCRCP vaccines for cats, by appointment Wednesday through Friday for $10.00 each.

You can make an appointment by calling 909-790-1440 or send an email to info@yaps.org. The best way to reach us is by emailing info@yaps.org.
