Yucaipa Animal Placement Society (YAPS) will consider out-of-state adoptions for adult dogs and cats on a case by case basis. However, for puppies and kittens less than 6 months of age we will only adopt to families in the Yucaipa and surrounding areas only. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers and adoptive families when it comes to preventative care provided in the adoption contract. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the animal's background and your family's needs. Every animal is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right animal with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.
Helpful Tips:
Please remember to bring all members of the household when considering adopting a pet from YAPS.
Additionally, if you have a dog(s) and you are interested in adopting a dog from YAPS they also must accompany you on a visit to YAPS before adoptions are finalized.
Landlords must give approval before adoptions are finalized
Consider filling out an application before your visit to YAPS to save time and get pre-approved!
We appreciate you wanting to bring a animal into your home. You can fill out an application online before visiting our facility or in person at our Rescue Facility in Yucaipa.
We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.
Once approved to adopt, the search for your animal begins. The best way for you to meet an adoptable pet is to visit our Rescue Facility during our open days, Wednesday-Sunday 12pm-4pm. During this visit, members of our Team will evaluate pets currently in our adoption program who may be a good fit for you and your family. We would also be open to discussing animals in our care that you are specifically interested in.
