Adoption Process

So You Want To Adopt Your New Best Friend

Yucaipa Animal Placement Society (YAPS) will consider out-of-state adoptions for adult dogs and cats on a case by case basis. However, for puppies and kittens less than 6 months of age we will only adopt to families in the Yucaipa and surrounding areas only. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers and adoptive families when it comes to preventative care provided in the adoption contract. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the animal's background and your family's needs. Every animal is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right animal with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.

If you are willing to wait for the right animal to be matched to you,
you are an ideal candidate for Yucaipa Animal Placement Society (YAPS). As our success rate proves, these precious animals are well worth the wait.

OUR PROCESS

Apply

We appreciate you wanting to bring a animal into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.

Review

We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.

Finding Your Pet

Once approved to adopt, the search for your animal begins. Volunteers will begin to evaluate pets currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family. We would also be open to discussing animals in our care that you are specifically interested in. The best way for you to meet an adoptable pet is to visit our Rescue Facility during our open days, Thursday-Saturday 12pm-4pm.
