We're happy to tell you that Katu (499) has a new furever home.
Please visit our Available cats Page to see the pups currently available.

KATU  is a female-spayed short hair white/orange senior feline.  She was born about August 2013, and was rescued as a stray by a cat-loving lady.  She was very reluctantly surrendered to YAPS late Sept. 2023, when her owner moved to assisted living - couldn’t take Katu with her.  Katu was Fostered-to-Adopt November 2023, but the existing cat in the home would not accept Katu, & fought with her.  So again, she was reluctantly surrendered to YAPS through no fault of her own.  Per her prior owners: she’s affectionate, gentle, likes high places, and interactive cat toys.  She’s gentle & loving.  Because she’s stressed from the loss of her two prior homes, Katu may or may not come to you for affection from her resting place.  If you’re sitting, she may rub against your legs, &/or jump up beside you for affection.  She likes being petted (especially in her resting place) – may purr, nuzzle you, &/or lick you in appreciation.  She accepts being held in your lap or arms, but currently not for long periods. She does not get along well with other cats – needs to be the only cat in the home.  When adopted, Katu should benefit from being initially placed in a “safe room”, to ensure a smooth, minimally stressful transition to her new home.
